Black History Tour in Savannah

Black History Tour in Savannah

Discover why Savannah was so instrumental in creating a fascinating historical record of southern black history in the United States on this small group tour in Savannah. During the tour, you'll watch a DVD that answers the questions "What was known as the Weeping Time?" - and "Who is credited with first using the term African-American, and when?"

Not only will you learn all kinds of interesting facts and get a glimpse into the lives of famous past and present Savannahians, but also spend time visiting the remarkable First African Baptist Church and the Beech Institute museum.

Experience the Caribbean influence in the city at Ye Olde Herb Shoppe, where conch or chicken salad, along with delicious Mango tea is provided. You’ll also be able to shop for a vast array of traditional island herbs and spices.

This is a "must-do" tour for anyone interested in three-Centuries of Savannah's rich cultural history.
